You have a great new book, or CD. You tell people about it... And THEN what?!
• Is it easy to "sample"?
• Is it easy to buy?
• Is it easy to tell others?
• Are there related products or freebies?
• Are there options? (Kindle, download, etc)
One of our clients has a new book, and a micro site. When you go there...SHA-BAM! You find a related music CD! (Special bundled pricing, and lots of other cool stuff)
It's so easy to quit the creative process half-way. ("OK we rushed to finish the book/DVD/etc., now let's rush on to the NEXT project...") It FEELS like the finish line, but in today's world it CAN'T be. Your initiatives need that second mile. (100% more, not 10% more)
Same holds true for many other areas: You have a message that you hope people really take to heart, but how are you helping them to really digest it, and put it into action? (Can they sign up for helpful emails? Text messages? Social media? Webinars?) Help people take next steps!
The reader gets to the end of your book... And THEN what?! Where are you taking them? I was talking to Wayne Jacobsen (Co-author of The Shack) last month about this very thing. Without the aid of any publisher or formal distribution channels, the book exploded. There are many reasons, of course, but they definitely answered the question; "And THEN what?"
Pick two projects you're working on right now. Stop the presses. Get some gifted people in the room, and answer that question.
Thinking about Independence Day and boy do I feel like a dummy.
It’s hard to believe that Thomas Jefferson was only 33 when he penned the Declaration of Independence. His best friend/arch enemy John Adams wasn’t the only patriot who could deliver a stirring speech, nor was his wife Abigail the only woman in America whose everyday letters were a thing of literary beauty. Even the humble congregational deacon in those days could write a masterpiece with a simple diary entry.
This July fourth, I stand in childlike embarrassment when I think of these master patriot communicators. Though they may bungle a spelling on occasion, it’s noticeable how the colonial soul took great pains to make sure every word counted.
Over the years we have had the privilege of representing many fine authors and ministries. I am continually amazed at how the Lord has positioned us to be an extension of some of the finest ministries on the Earth. Most recently we have had the honor of working with Reinhard Bonnke and putting together his autobiography. According to Bonkke’s ministry, 52 million souls have made a decision to follow Christ through his evangelistic efforts and his passion for the Gospel. The stories that Dr. Bonnke shares have literally at times brought tears to my eyes. One of my personal passions happens to be sharing Christ with everyone I come into contact with on a daily basis.
What do you think of the story of Reinhard Bonnke?
I look forward to being with him this summer in just a few weeks at the ICRS trade show.

One of the most effective new ways for promoting a media product is through the use of microsites. Scott was recently interviewed by Black Entertainment Magazine for an article on the use of this growing marketing tool.

Whew! It's been a busy spring for Vaughn Street and for video production at Eastco's California Road Studios. In April we wrapped up filming with Wild At Heart author John Eldredge for his new project, Fathered By God. Over three jam-packed days we shot in mountain ranches, homes, garages, a beautiful castle and even a boxing ring - all beautifully captured using the Panasonic HPX500 HD camera, P+S Technik adaptor, and Zeiss Super Speed 35mm lenses (for you technical geeks).
In May our crews were on the set with Joyce Meyer shooting content for a powerful new curriculum project entitled Love Revolution. In addition to shooting several days throughout downtown St. Louis with Joyce, our team captured 1080i HD footage in Tulsa, OK (with Delirious? front man Martin Smith), in Columbus, OH (with worship leader Darlene Zschech), and in Phoenix, AX (with pastor Tommy Barnett).
Both projects are currently in post production, along with a brand new product for longtime Eastco client, John Bevere Ministries. Look for all three products to be released internationally this fall.
