And THEN What?!
You have a great new book, or CD. You tell people about it… And THEN what?!
• Is it easy to “sample”?
• Is it easy to buy?
• Is it easy to tell others?
• Are there related products or freebies?
• Are there options? (Kindle, download, etc)
One of our clients has a new book, and a micro site. When you go there…SHA-BAM! You find a related music CD! (Special bundled pricing, and lots of other cool stuff)
It’s so easy to quit the creative process half-way. (“OK we rushed to finish the book/DVD/etc., now let’s rush on to the NEXT project…”) It FEELS like the finish line, but in today’s world it CAN’T be. Your initiatives need that second mile. (100% more, not 10% more)
Same holds true for many other areas: You have a message that you hope people really take to heart, but how are you helping them to really digest it, and put it into action? (Can they sign up for helpful emails? Text messages? Social media? Webinars?) Help people take next steps!
The reader gets to the end of your book… And THEN what?! Where are you taking them? I was talking to Wayne Jacobsen (Co-author of The Shack) last month about this very thing. Without the aid of any publisher or formal distribution channels, the book exploded. There are many reasons, of course, but they definitely answered the question; “And THEN what?”
Pick two projects you’re working on right now. Stop the presses. Get some gifted people in the room, and answer that question.
